Blacksmith Knife Making
An opportunity for just two people, either together or two individuals..
You will learn the basics of metalwork, and have a tour of projects in progress at the workshop. You will then concentrate on the Knife Making project. This day is aimed at beginners , although some prior blacksmith experience will help, it is not essential.
By the end of the day, you will have your own knife based on either the Finnish puukko knife or a Viking utilities knife. The course will cover technical elements such as fire welding heat treating as well as sharpening and maintaining your knife.
As this course is aimed exclusively at just two people, you will have plenty of time for one-to–one tuition.
The Blacksmithing Knife Making day is very physical, and you may find suitable refreshment at the excellent pub almost next door!
Ian Thackray trained at Warwickshire College, and obtained his National Certificate in Blacksmithing. He has now been awarded The Certificate of Merit by the Worshipful Company of Blacksmiths.
