Blacksmith Axe Making
An opportunity for just two people , either together or booked individually.
You will learn the basics of metalwork, and have a tour of projects in progress at the workshop.
This day is quite physical, some prior blacksmith experience helps but is not essential.
As this course is aimed exclusively at just two people, you will have plenty of time for one-to–one tuition.
By the end of the day you will have your own hatchet sized axe head to take home with you. The course will cover punching and drifting, fire welding, heat treating as well as sharpening, maintaining and safely using your newly forged axe head.
The Blacksmithing Experience day is quite hard work, and you may find suitable refreshment at the excellent pub almost next door!
Ian Thackray trained at Warwickshire College, and obtained his National Certificate in Blacksmithing. He has now been awarded The Certificate of Merit by the Worshipful Company of Blacksmiths.
£185.00 per person including all materials used
